| Four WWHA members spend a day visiting historic Texas cemeteries |

December 10 was a special day for several western history "buffs" in the Central Texas area. Doug Dukes, Donaly Brice, Pat and Chuck Parsons chose that day as "Cemetery Day" and visited a number of last resting places of individuals who have a strong connection to the outlaw-lawman past.

My mother's people began to settle in east Texas in 1825, and most moved on to south Texas in the late 1850s. My great granddad, accompanied by one of his twelve sisters and a brother-he only had six of them, set out for New Mexico and then to Arizona in the late 1890s.

The first Wild West History Association Roundup in Tulsa Oklahoma was a resounding success. This premier event will long live in the minds of those who attended. A lot of hard work went into putting on the event and those who made it possible were richly rewarded by the compliments and obvious enjoyment of the attendees.

The Roundup in Tulsa was a hugh success, and well attended. More details of the roundup will follow as well as plenty of photos.
Next year's Roundup will be in San Antonio Texas, July 15-19.

Having recently received the second issue of the WWHA Journal, I feel confident in saying the first issue was no fluke. See, I believed the first issue to be the most informative and interesting magazine ever published in the Old West genre. Said opinion may have been colored, as I found a gem, hidden in the footnotes of John and Karen Tanner's article on the Logan, New Mexico train robbery, revealing a character I was working on, who was believed to have disappeared into the teeming masses, was actually active in law enforcement well past the end of the 19th century.

We are pleased to announce the WWHA Awards Program approved by the Board of Directors. These awards are intended to recognize and honor those who have contributed the most to research, writing, and service to the history of the Wild West. Nominations are due by May 15, 2008.

| The Wild West History Association Is Born |

On New Years day 2008 a new western history association was born. The proud parents are the National Association for Outlaw and Lawmen History (NOLA), formed in 1974, and the Western Outlaw-Lawman History Association (WOLA), founded in 1990. These two history groups, with a worldwide membership, have joined in the formation of the Wild West History Association (WWHA). This merger creates the primary Wild West history organization in the world.
