Several WWHA members participated in the Authorfest which recognized area authors on April 24. Members were Pat Parsons, Doug Dukes, Lisa Lach, Mike Cox and Chuck Parsons. Each spoke on their most recent publications and signed copies for fans interested in learning more.
Shown here is Doug Dukes of Liberty Hill, Texas who spoke on Ben Thompson's career as City Marshal of Austin.
Pat Parsons spoke on Bringing the Gospel to Texas: The Like of William Henry Harrison Biggs, 1840-1932; Lisa Lach spoke on her book, Silent Night, Deadly Night: McDade, Texas 1883; Mike Cox spoke on his recent two-volume history of the Texas Rangers and Chuck Parsons spoke on his history, The Sutton-Taylor Feud: The Deadliest Blood Feud in Texas.
Bastrop, Texas was for a number of years the home of Ben Thompson and members of his family. His brother, Bill Thompson, is buried in the city cemetery, whereas Ben is buried in Austin.
