The Buffalo Bill Historical Center in Cody, Wyoming, one of the premier western history museums in America, has completed the installation of the "GALLERY OF GUNFIGHTERS" exhibit. The exhibit is sponsored by the BBHC McCracken Research Library in partnership with the Wild West History Association.

On Friday, May 20th and Saturday, May 21st, the Texas Ranger Hall of Fame and Museum (TRHFM) hosted the Lone Star History Conference for the Wild West History Association (WWHA). Almost 300 members of WWHA from all over the United States attended the conference.

The Cody Institute for Western American Studies (CIWAS), at the Buffalo Bill Historical Center in Cody, Wyoming, invites proposals for its 2011 Resident Fellowship Program. Fellowships are intended to fund research in humanities and/or natural science pertaining to the American West and thereby include an award up to $5,000 and a residency requirement between two to four weeks dependent upon the parameters of the fellow's research needs. The period of residency must be completed between June 1, 2011 and May 31, 2012. A maximum of four fellowships will be awarded in 2011-12.

| 2011 WWHA Research/Writing Grants |

PURPOSE: To provide financial assistance to western history enthusiasts toward pursuing new research and subsequent writings concerning characters and events in keeping with the WWHA statement of focus and goals.
ANNOUNCEMENT: Information concerning 2011 and subsequent year grants will be published in the WWHA Saddlebag by March 20.
ELIGIBILITY: Any WWHA member or enrolled undergraduate or graduate student is eligible to apply for a WWHA Research / Writing Grant.
GRANT AWARD: For 2011 one WWHA Scholarship of $1000, one Phillip W. Steele Scholarship of $500 and one Rex Macbeth Scholarship of $500 will be offered.
